What we collect

The information used by this website.

Newsletter subscriptions

If you ask to receive EveryRiver updates, we collect your email address together with subscription information such as when and where you signed up, your consent status and whether you later unsubscribe. MailerLite also processes the technical information needed to submit the form and deliver the emails.

Website delivery and security

The website is delivered using GitHub Pages and Cloudflare. These providers may process basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser information, requested page and the date and time of a request, to deliver and protect the website. We do not use this information for visitor analytics, behavioural advertising or profiling.

External fonts

The site currently loads its typeface from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore connects to Google when a page loads, and Google may receive technical information including your IP address and browser details.

Why we use it

Our purposes and lawful bases.

We use your email address to send the EveryRiver updates you requested. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us.

We use limited technical information to operate, secure and troubleshoot the website. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing a safe and reliable service. We may also process information where necessary to meet a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Providing an email address is optional. If you do not provide one, you will not receive EveryRiver updates.

Who processes it

Service providers and international transfers.

We use MailerLite to manage subscriptions and send emails. MailerLite acts as a processor on our behalf. MailerLite states that subscriber data belonging to UK customers is stored in the European Union and that it uses contractual safeguards where protected data is processed by approved subprocessors.

Website delivery also involves GitHub, Cloudflare and Google Fonts. Some providers may process technical information outside the UK. Where data-protection law requires safeguards, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections used by the relevant provider.

We do not sell personal information or share newsletter details with other organisations for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Retention and unsubscribing.

We keep your newsletter information while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending updates and retain only the information reasonably needed to record your choice, prevent further messages and demonstrate compliance. Other subscription information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed to administer the list or meet a legal requirement.

Technical website records are retained only for the periods set by our service providers for delivery, security and troubleshooting.

Your choices

Your data-protection rights.

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of your personal information;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your information;
  • object to particular uses of your information; and
  • receive information you provided in a portable format.

You can withdraw newsletter consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before it was withdrawn. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

To exercise a right, email [email protected]. We may need to ask for information that allows us to confirm your identity.

Questions and complaints

How to contact us or the ICO.

Please contact us first if you have a question or concern. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data-protection regulator. Visit the ICO complaints page or call 0303 123 1113.

We may update this notice when our services or legal obligations change. The latest version will always be published on this page.
